Algorithmic Accountability
Despite the ubiquity of algorithmic selection in people’s digital lives, the models are often opaque to both the content creators who rely on them as well as the people who are served their results. Policy debates grapple with questions around transparency in and accountability for how digital platform algorithms function, including how they find, select and prioritize accurate, evidence-based content. Addressing these challenges requires balancing the importance of transparency with the potential risk that the information could be manipulated for political or commercial interests.
