
Kirsten Eddy

Kirsten Eddy is the senior researcher at the Center for News, Technology & Innovation. She is a research associate and former postdoctoral research fellow with the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism at the University of Oxford, a senior researcher with the Geena Davis Institute on Gender in Media and a research affiliate with the Center for Information, Technology, and Public Life.
Kirsten’s research on the interplay of journalism, politics, and digital media has been published in leading communication journals, including the Journal of Communication, New Media & Society, Journalism, and Journalism Studies, and she is the co-author of two books: “Power in Ideas” (Cambridge University Press, 2021) and “Recoding the Boys’ Club” (Oxford University Press, 2020). Kirsten obtained her Ph.D. in media and communication from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in journalism from Arizona State University’s Cronkite School.
Before returning to academia, she worked as an editor at Gallup as well as in roles in news editing and reporting.
